Hi,
after six enjoyable years spent in New York City, first at the
Courant Institute of New York University,
then at AT&T Labs and lastly at
Bell-Labs
as member of the Secure System Research Department, I am back in Italy...
and back to school as well! I am working towards my Ph.D. in Computer Science
at University of Pisa. I have recently discussed my preliminary thesis
proposal "Efficiency and security: reconcilable aspects of the same coin?"
My thesis advisors are Maurizio Bonuccelli.
My research interests focus mainly on Byzantine-tolerance and distributed
computing applied to mobile computing and wireless sensor networks. I am
very interested in cryptography and in its interaction with distributed
computing, as well as in efficiency issues, randomized approaches. Scalability
for large populations, efficiency. What excites me is to blend theory and
practice, and see how theory can impact the solution of real problems. That's
why after my MS in Math I have decided to switch to Computer Science.
I find very interesting to interaction among different research areas as
well as between theory and practice and I feel that working as a software
engineer was a useful experience that helped me to get a grip with the real
world and to find out what I like best! :-)
I am organizing a reading group in Pisa on security/cryptography.
Relevant projects I have worked on:
