Welcome to Chao Wang's Homepage
Hi, welcome to my homepage! I was born in Jiangsu Province, China in 1972, and grew up in the beautiful city of Suzhou. I went to college in Tsinghua University, Beijing, China in 1989, and received a Bachelor's degree from the Electrical Engineering Department in July 1994. In 1995, I entered the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department at MIT as a graduate student. I completed a Master's thesis on Porting the Galaxy System to Chinese in 1997, and a PhD thesis on Prosodic Modeling for Improved Speech Recognition and Understanding in June 2001, both in the Spoken Language Systems Group at the MIT Laboratory for Computer Science, under the advisement of Dr. Stephanie Seneff. I am currently working as a Research Scientist at the SLS group.
We are currently developing a weather inquiry system called MuXing(ΔΎΠΗ), which interacts with people using Mandarin Chinese. Check it out and help us with our data collection if you speak Chinese.
