Main / Personal projects / Context Sensitive Language Training

For a project in Context Aware Computing taught by Ted Selker, we extended the Augmented Reality Kitchen to teach users of the kitchen words in a foreign language. We taylored the words being learned to the user’s current activity. For example, when the user opened the refrigerator, they heard the word “refridgerator” in the target language. In this way, they hear words about the objects they are interacting with, and the mapping is reinforced by input from all the senses.

We made a short write up about the project, as well as created a movie.
