Spring 2011
Schedule:
- February 4th. Andrew Drucker presents his recent work on A PCP Characterization of AM.
- February 25th. Ben Reichardt on the adversary method for quantum state preparation.
- March 4th. Anand presents the paper by Jonathan Oppenheim and Staphanie Wehner on a connection between ucnertainty relations and nonlocality.
- March 11th. Thomas presents Random Numbers Certified by Bell's Theorem. See also Chapter 5 from Roger Colbeck's thesis for some prior work. Here are some (rather rough) notes.
- March 18th. We continue on our exploration of the fundamentals of quantum non-locality with Urmila presenting the paper Local Quantum Measurement and No-Signaling Imply Quantum Correlations by Barnum et al. Urmila made some notes on her presentation, and Zeph drew some pictures.
- April 1st. Yi-Kai presents the paper Quantum property testing for bounded-degree graphs.
- April 8th. Guoming talks about the complexity of commuting Hamiltonians, based on the recent paper by Aharonov and Eldar.
- April 15th. No reading group due to the theory retreat.
- April 22nd. Yichen presents a quasi-polynomial time algorithm for separability testing, due to Brandao, Christandl and Yard: arXiv:1011.2751. See also previous work by the same authours on squashed entanglement, and Brandao's QIP talk.
- April 29th. Milosh presents the bound on the faithfulness of squashed entanglement that we needed last week: see the paper by Brandao, Christandl and Yard.
Some other topics that we planned on eventually exploring:
