Just a quick remark: I don't think mathematical notation
has anything to do with "infix", other than that mathematical
notation uses infix notation **plus** many others .
- infix a+b
- prefix sin(x)

- vertical -

- 2-d roots, ...
and tons of other in various obscure combination
with all kinds of implicit context dependent
assumptions...
