May was a cousin of Etel Cardone-Butzin. Herberg was her married name; her husband was George Herberg. She lived in Newark where she owned a corset shop. She had a sister named Sarah who was a little slow-witted. May owned candlesticks which had been handed down from the same ancestor whose candlesticks Etel had. (Who gave them to Sonia, who gave them to Anne)
