Furling and Un-furling the Jib
The jib furling line is on the port side, near the rail.
To un-furl, un-cleat the jib
furling line, and pull carefully on one of the jib sheets (the jib sheet that will be
cleated first). Pull carefully to avoid "halyard wraps".
To furl, pull carefully on the furling line, holding on lightly to one of the jib sheets
so the furling is nice and tight. Again, watch for halyard wraps.
Raising the Jib
To raise the jib, one person should sit on the bow railing. Attach the tack of the jib
to the hooks in front, attach the jib sheets to the clew, and attach the jib halyard
to the head. Feed the luff of the jib through the lower guide and then into one of the
forestay slots. From this point, the jib can be raised rapidly.
Lowering the jib is straightforward.
