J-30 Boat Preparation

• On the boat, unlock cabin, stow baggage.
• Check flares, first aid kit, electrical system, radio, charts.
• Check fuel tank (under starboard side seat cushions).
• Pump the bilge.
  • Electrical pump
  • Built-in hand pump at the port-stern (need to attach handle)
  • Use the small hand pump with a bucket
• If Jib is not rigged:
  • Get the Jib or Genoa sail from the forward cabin and put it on deck.
  • Take Jib sheets out of starboard stern seat compartment (the Jib sheets are thicker than the Spinnaker sheets which are also in this compartment).
• Check anchor in port stern seat compartment, forward starboard compartment.
• Take the cover off the main sail, untie ties.
• Attach main halyard to main sail head and pull up a foot or two.
• Take elastic bands off tiller.
