Computers are getting smarter. Interfaces are becoming more convenient. Does it make us dumb? Or kind? Or lonely?
I do not think that currently technology dramatically affects the profound ways that form human being. Some deep dark and irrational aspects of our nature remain almost unchaged througout the centuries. But I believe they could be realized and influenced.
I feel that we are on the verge of making technology understand human ways. I dream that computers will be able to give us better job recommendations, help us fight mental diseases, train us to understand ourselves and others. I hope eventually machines, truly unbiased advisors, will help us become happier.
Apart from this, I am also fascinated by the process of creating fault tolerant, secure and easy to use computer systems and services as well as maintaining them and keeping up-to-date.
I have a very diverse background, which included training in computer science, psychology and philology as well as work experience as an IT specialist and a teacher.
Most of my life I lived in Saint-Petersburg, Russia where I completed my bachelors. I spent a year in Boston area while studying at MIT and now I am living in Moscow, Russia pursuing MSc in computer science.
My interests include but are not limited to multiagent systems, self-organization, social intelligence, game theory, usage of mathematical models to explain and predict such things as marriage success and mental diseases progress.
Right now I am working in close collaboration with MIT Professor Patrick Winston (leader of the Genesis group) and Doctor Boris Katz (leader of the Infolab group) trying to embed an exhaustive narrative theory into the Genesis story understanding system.
