Wine crates are awesome. They're free, they're useful, and they class things up a bit.
Collecting wine crates is difficult --- most wines no longer ship in wooden crates. But be persistant, make the rounds to local liquor stores. 90% of the time I struck out, but every once in a while you hit the motherload. It took about a year for me to collect 20+ crates.
