Transportation Where is MIT located?

MIT is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, next to Boston. Cambridge and Boston are located on opposite banks of the Charles river. The best way to get to MIT is to take the Boston Metro redline (or the T), and get off at the Kendall/MIT stop.

Boston Airport

All Boston (Airport code BOS) flights arrive and depart from the Boston Logan International Airport. The airport is located just four miles from the city center of Boston, and is accessible via taxi, subway or water taxi. A free shuttle service is available between the terminals for those travelers making transfers to other Boston flights. The taxi ride from airport to Boston downtown costs around $35.00.

Boston/Cambridge Subway

Boston and nearby cities (such as Cambridge) have an excellent underground subway system, called the T, run by the MBTA.

Taxi and Car Rentals

Cars can be rented at the airport. Also, there are plenty of Taxi services.

Accommodation Recommended Inexpensive Places to Stay

1) Cheap good quality hostel called 40Berkeley. Take the Boston Metro redline to Kendall/MIT station.

2) Beacon Hill Lodging.
Take the Boston Metro redline to Kendall/MIT station.

3) Hostelling International.

    Two locations:

    3.1) One near Boston University
    3.2) Another near Kenmore Square, Boston.
    3.3) Both locations are an easy bus ride on Bus No. 1 towards Harvard Square. The MIT stop is right after the Charles river.

There are many 2, 3, 4, and 5-star hotels in and around Boston/Cambridge.

There are also many good quality bed and breakfast places, that tend to be a little cheaper.

Getting to MIT By Subway

MIT is 2-3 minute walk from the Kendall/MIT redline stop on the subway. If you are coming from Boston, you will catch the outbound train. If you are coming from Cambridge, you will catch the inbound train.

You can always take a taxi (Tell the driver to take you to the "Main street and Vassar Street on the MIT campus").

The Venue @ MIT

Building 34

The venue will be one of the large lecture halls, room 101, inside the Building 34. Building 34 is easily recognizable because of it has an interesting metal scaffolding encased in glass. It is at 50 Vassar Street.

Food
Snacks and coffee will be provided by us at the venue itself. For dinner you can treat yourself to many wonderful restaurants in Cambridge, and across the river in Boston.

Boston and Cambridge are some of the oldest and architecturally interesting cities in the US. You will see a mixture of Neo-classical, Victorian, Art Deco, Modernistic, and Post-modernistic buildings.

There is plenty to see in the various neighbourhoods such as Havard Square, Back bay, North End etc. The following website provides an excellent guide.
