Has anyone ever made a successful business of selling a language?
If you mean selling language implementations, yes, there was a time
when you could do that, and there were whole software companies much
of whose business was language implementations. Intermetrics,
Softech, and Translation Systems Inc., are names that come to mind.
But the economics and business strategies have changed a lot since
then.
