By no means.  While I am a very strong supporter of a hygienic macro 
system over a regular syntax (PLT scheme), TeX/LaTeX has neither of 
these, and I've spent many hours gnashing my teeth, trying to 
understand its funny hidden corners.  I would be appalled to see TeX 
held up as the poster child for macros.
