HIVE 1: Sunday, January 7 -- 1pm to 5pm
Focus on improvements to your Battle Road kit–
This is a must for all Battle Road participants -- newbies and veterans alike!!!

 

1:00pm - 2:00pm (Presentation) "10 Easy ways to Improve your kit & 5 a little less easy ways to improve your kit" - For both men and women. You have three and one half months before this year's Patriots' Day events -- Now's the time to start working on improvements to your impression.

Making a Market Wallet – Save that haversack for your military impression!  In this workshop you will construct a market wallet based on an original artifact.  Great for the beginner or novice hand sewer.  Fabric will be available for purchase, or bring your own. Make a Shift –Learn the basics of shift construction.  You will learn how to cut all the necessary pieces, as well as techniques for construction. Also good for the beginner.  Fabric will be available for purchase or bring your own linen. (Supply list and fabric suggestions - click here)
 

 

HIVE 2: Sunday, February 4 -- 1pm to 5pm

A Field Guide to British Uniforms – Mike Kaplan of His Majesty’s 10th Regiment of Foot will take you through the parts and pieces of a British uniform and what it says about the soldier, his rank, his regiment, his function.  A must for all Battle Road and Patriots Day interpreters!!!!

Mending 101 – Keep your kit in good condition – learn the basics of repairs.  Workshop will cover: reattaching a button, fixing a seam, patching a hole.  Bring your items that need repair.

Make a petticoat –  It’s time to retire that drawstring petticoat.  Make a new one or convert your drawstring petticoat to one that is pleated and sewn to tapes.  Materials will be available for purchase. (Supply list and fabric suggestions - click here)
 

 

HIVE 3: Sunday, March 4 -- 1pm to 5pm

Creating your 18th century Sunday best – How to enhance your existing kit and gussy it up for Sunday go-to-meeting or an English Country Dance.  For both men & women.

Buttonholes & Eyelets –  Put that sewing machine away, and make your eyelets and buttonholes by hand.  The more you do the better you get – we’ll teach you the technique, so you can add that special touch to your 18c clothing.

Improve your impression – First person development and how to create a persona.  You don’t have to go over the top like William Wallace the Village Idiot or the Hannah Drudge the Chicken Lady to create a great impression.  Sandie Tarbox, aka Mehitable Downs the Fish Monger, will share her advice on developing a credible impression to add to your 18c interpretation.
