Most interesting to me is what the developers did and
din't list as "What Erlang Needs".  They did list

 - Better Documentation of Best Coding Practices

Java has an orthodoxy: you use ant, JUnit, patterns as
per the various 'patterns in java' style books.  There
is a (semi-)official definition of what good code is. 
Looks like the Sendmail developers want an orthodoxy
for Erlang.

 - profiler and debugger

Both practical things often swept under the carpet

And what they didn't list:

 - static type system
