It's a small group.  Many things to do.  At the time fun-o was
being spun off from Harlequin I suspect the priority was to get
something running quickly, and I don't think it's reasonable to
expect that writing the very first e-commerce web site in Dylan
would be faster than using an off-the-shelf solution.

As a group of mostly compiler writers I also doubt that writing
an e-commerce web site piqued their interest all that much.

I bet they don't use mail clients or OSes written in Dylan either.
