Bickering

Galápagos Islands

Two Nazca boobies hash things out atop a rock on Genovesa Island. It was funny watching these two. They would stand peacefully and quietly together for long moments, burst suddenly into brief, animated fits of squawking and whistling, then resume their silence and relaxed nature.

I photographed many individual animals during my trip, but I had the most fun photographing pairs: mates, rivals, parents and pups, siblings, and so on. I’ve begun a mini-series of my favorite “portraits of two” (starting with my image of the sea lion mother and pup, two days ago), and I’ll post a few more in the days ahead.
