The people in most of, what is today, France were Francs, but the
Normans were not these, as you say, they were Normans: men from the
North, Vikings, Danes and Norweigens mostly, who had taken root in
many places around Europe including Yorkshire and Northumberland.

William was cousin to Edward the Confessor and of Harald Hardrada of
Norway (who invaded England a couple of weeks before William and lost
the Battle of Stamford Bridge).

The Francs never conquered England, it was just more Vikings.

Yeah, well the Francs are like that. I'd better not elaborate.  ;-)
