Well, I must say I had a higher opinion of Fare prior to his last
two posts.  Something seems to have gone to his head.

I'd be curious to hear from Mr. Kelleher why Python wouldn't be 
suitable for his needs.  (Maybe we'll find additional unexpressed
requirements.)

In Beazley's _Python Essential Reference_, which is mostly a
repackaging of the the official documentation, there is a nice eleven
page tutorial in Chapter 1 which covers most of the language features.

A perfectly usable example of file I/O appears on page four, and a
discussion of string manipulation appears on page five.

What does "small footprint" mean to you these days in terms of RAM and
disk?  Still looking for something like Forth (except not "write
only")?

Nothing like lighting up a nice flame to liven up the list :)
